In the present times, Persian cats are amongst the most famous cat breeds. This long haired breed of cats possesses beautiful features and is mostly recognized for its sweetness and gentle behavior. In general, the Persian cats are normally found to be white colored; there are several different colors of this breed of cats. In comparison, they can be broadly classified in a variety of colors. During cat shows they have been seen to be in seven different shades like solid, shaded or smoked, silverfish or golden, tabby, bi color, parti-colored and Himalayan. It doesn’t really make a difference as to which color they are, it is their long and flowing coat which differentiates them from the rest of the breed and makes them the most recognizable during competitive events.
It is always advised that the Persian cats are not let out of the house much, as it might spoil their coat. This breed of cats requires a lot of maintenance and you will have to ensure that the cat is bathed regularly and brushed daily with a metal comb. Not doing so might result in tangled hair, leading to hairballs. So it is important to follow this to protect their coat. Make it a habit when the cat is young, so that it gets used to it. Do not ignore their bath as it would not only spoil their coat but also make the cat look unclean and unhealthy. Though there are cat breeds which can manage their coat, the Persian cats cant as they have long and dense fur which needs to be groomed everyday to make sure that they look healthy.
This breed of cats is most recognized for their warm and sweet behavior and they tend to adjust with everyone including your children. They also possess a sweet voice and communicate with their masters with their sound and eyes. The Persian cats are also playful but unlike the Siamese cats they do not demand much attention. Like the other cat breeds, the Persian cats are not destructive and do not hop around places. They can be considered to be a lazy breed which enjoys lying in the sunlight and flaunting their beauty to others for admiration.
Mostly, the cats are pets which can be easily be let out and let in the house, but in case of this breed, they shouldn’t be allowed outside at all as it may spoil their beautiful fur. This would also ensure that they are not affected with common diseases and parasites. Also you will not have to bother about the street dogs and the running vehicles if your cat is safe inside the house.
Medical attention should always be taken care of. Regular checkups and timely vaccination are important. Also the life span of the Persian cats depends on their maintenance. A healthy and clean Persian cat has been reported to survive up to 20 years. Another important factor in such breeds of cats is their eyes. As they have big eyes, the pet at times may not be able to clean it properly. It is a general problem often faced with this breed and should always be taken care of on a timely basis to prevent any disease.
In comparison to other breeds of cats, Persian cats are the most easy to keep as pets.
